Summer

One thing for sure. It is HOT this summer. And I don't mean, "Poor me, it's 76 degrees." I mean, "HOLY CRAP! It's 91 degrees in the house!!!!!!!!" It's made motivation pretty challenging. I want to get stuff done. Really I do. But when it's so hot you feel like you're melting from the inside out, it makes it a little difficult. Obviously outdoor work has to be put on hold when it's that hot. The humidity gave us a ridiculous heat index today, I'm sure. The boys didn't play outside, and I didn't even order them outside. Too hot.... and heat makes for interesting days, I guess.

The boys did go out to the dog pen to water the dogs and hose it all down back there. And when they went out, Kyle told me, "I can't find Diego." Um... He's black. He's fat, and there's no way he got out. Look harder.

"Mom. Diego's stuck under the dog house."

UNDER the dog house?? As in under the HUGE 100-something pound dog house that fits at LEAST 3 dogs at a time? The dog house that takes two people just to slide it across the pen? Yeah.... That dog house. Lovely. So I went out and had him half-heartedly help me lift the stupid thing. It seemed extra heavy, so I looked around. "Where's Crush?" I looked inside the dog house, and sure enough, there were two yellow paws sticking out from the bedroom portion of the dog house. B-E-A-Utiful.... No wonder it was so heavy. He added about another 100lbs to the weight. Fat dog.

Dog stuck under dog house. Fat dog refuses to get out of heavy dog house other fat dog is stuck under. So... I pounded on the top of the dog house and scared the CRAP out of Crush. Probably scared Diego too, but it was a desperate situation. I was in the sun and it was hot. Big yellow dog saunters out, completely dazed, but interested nonetheless as to WHY ON EARTH I had to interrupt his nap in the cool shade of his shelter. Big lift and Diego managed to worm his way out. He hasn't gone back under yet, even though it's sweltering. Wonder if he'll get stuck again? THAT'S how hot it is today.
