I have literally thousands of favorite quotes. Quotes about art. Quotes about life. Quotes about loss. Quotes about success. So when it came to this challenge, I had to figure out which quote was the most meaningful to me right now, so....
"I want to believe..."
Yes, it is from X-Files, and it's intended to apply to belief in extraterrestrials. One sentence can take on multiple meanings, and since this isn't a statement that says specifically "I want to believe in aliens," I have given it my own meaning.
I want to believe... that people are innately good.
...that there is hope for the economy.
...that even the worst situation when met with a positive mind can become something good.
...that there will be change in the world, for the better.
...that these wars are not in vain.
...that I will one day be able to repay everyone who has helped me in full with interest.
You get the idea. I want to believe because it at least leaves the door open for the possibilities. If you sit back and constantly tell yourself, "that'll never happen," it won't. I believe we all have the ability to make our own future what we want it to be... what we believe it should be. Without hope and belief, what's the point? Why write yourself off before you've ever given yourself a chance? I see so many people that are determined to remain miserable. Not me. True, my fabulous future is taking forever, but it'll happen. It IS happening. It's been a long and difficult road, but I see it in the distance, slowly taking shape like the cityscape appearing in the desert after a long road of nothingness. I see it and it's beautiful. It's right there, getting closer by the minute. Can't you see it?
I will not freak out...
